Cupcake Bouquets Structure

Although this is not a tutorial, it is information relating to how to secure cupcakes in a Cupcake Bouquets.

As you know, buttercream can get fairly heavy and when we make those beautiful cupcake bouquets, they always seem to fall at the worst moment and especially during transportation.

Craftsy suggests doing the following, which I found pretty clever and so I’d like to share it with all of you, in case you haven’t seen it:

Cut off the bottom of a paper cup, leaving the sides about 1″ tall. Repeat with enough cups for all of your cupcakes. Add a drop of hot glue onto the bottom of the cut cups and glue to the styrofoam ball.

Push a toothpick through the bottom of the cup into the styrofoam ball. Leave about 1/2″ of toothpick sticking up. Insert two more toothpicks to create a triangular shape. Repeat with all cups. Fill all the way around the bottom edge. Then fill in the top of the ball. Place the cups as close to each other as possible. Now you are ready to insert your cupcakes where they will be nice and secure and ready to decorate. Hope this helps – it sure helped me feel less anxious about cupcakes falling off the toothpicks!
