This very easy cake is perfect with a cup of tea or coffee, or may be a glass of milk! The smell of the kitchen is wonderful as it’s baking, and the taste is just divine!
This is a family recipe and my mom takes credit..
- 5 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup sunflower oil
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 2 tablespoons ground star anise
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom (optional)
- 1 teaspoon black seed (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
-Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Butter and flour an 10-inch square pan.
-In a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the eggs at medium speed until fluffy and light yellow. Add the sugar. Add remaining ingredients except for the sesame seeds, and mix to combine.
-Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake for 30 minutes (or until it’s done). Check for doneness with a toothpick inserted into the center of the pan. When it’s done, remove to a rack to cool.
