A topper for my next cake which I had promised a while back for a close friend of ours’ daughter who wanted Ariel.
Took a while to do this, was not really happy with the proportions but I was too tired and painful to do anything more on her decided that I had finished with her, took some photos and when I was picking her up, she toppled over and fell…… the tail and hand broke :-(. Didn’t end up doing anything on it for a week or two.
Finally this week I got around to trying my hand at fixing it. First two picture are before the accident and the last pic is after the fix ( I wasn’t adventurous enough to take enough photos the second time around :-) ).
She doesn’t look like an Ariel I envisioned ……even had thoughts about redoing her, In my present state I don’t think I will however…..
When you look at her for the first time, do you think she is okay as Ariel ???? otherwise I will name her ‘Nameless Mermaid’ ;-).
She will have a home in two weeks time.
Thank you for looking, Thank you for all your support.

You did an amazing job Sasi! Especially given your pain. I can’t tell where it was broken so you did a great patch job! I think she looks more than awesome and you need not worry about whether she looks just like Ariel or not. It is not easy to make them look “just like” the character and you have all the defining features which are the pretty eyes and lovely red hair. I can tell she is Ariel and I know your client would be more than happy with her! =D

I think she is gorgeous Sasi!! Characters are so difficult to reproduce exactly, but I think your Ariel looks fabulous, and I think the client will love her. Love the way she is sitting in a clam shell. The details on her are perfect too! The little shell she is holding and the tiny pearl straps on her top are perfect touches. Well done!!!!

Aww….Dear Violet, Kath, Sweet Lin, Pauline, Jchuck, Toni, Sofia and Elli. Where would I be without you all dear ladies. Thank you so so very much for the lovely and encouraging words. I think my problem is I keep seeing the faults and they seem bigger to me as I look at them but your comments makes me feel so much better.
With my hands Elli it is a tad better when I rest and flares up when I do something not just cakes :-(. Will see how things go, a waiting game I guess.
