Gypsy wagon cake

When I was asked to do this cake I was very excited at the challenge, you don’t see many gypsy caravan cakes about.
It’s Guinness chocolate sponge with whiskey buttercream. I’d seen a few cake done with the cake raised up on stilts to give space underneath. I decided to make it all cake and cove a strip of black to create the illusion. I’m pleased how this works. I used pastillage for the wheels and steps.
There is a support board and dowels in the lower part to take the weight of the upper part.
The recipient was Irish hence the Guinness and whiskey, and there is also the Irish flag on the back.

It was an enormous cake which is my only error as it was to feed 25 ….. Well it will… For a week ;-)
