This isn’t one of the most impressive cakes on this site but it is a cake with a story. A very close friend, who loves my triple layered carrot care with orange buttercream, asked me if I would make one for her son’s birthday. She didn’t want anything over the top or too fancy. Se didn’t want fondant, just buttercream. The only thing she asked was that I would write ‘Smuffy is 4’ on the cake, as that is her pet name for her son. Recently she sent me a text message of a picture her son had drawn of a bluebird which she was immensely proud of so I thought, instead of my usual sugarpaste carrots, I would replicate his drawing and put it on the cake as a surprise for them both. :oD
