I made this cake for my step-granddaughter’s 17th birthday. My ever-supportive family expect thier cakes to be “experiments” as I test new cutters and techniques I have not tried before on them. This cake was done using my new clematis cutters, my new plaque cutter and my first time trying out the billowing. Love the flowers and plaque; when I did the billowing I remember a blouse my mother had which was tufted so I rolled the gumpaste really thin and let it free-form itself when I attached it to the cake. I know they are not perfect “billows” but I really like the effect-to me it really does look like a sheer fabric!

It is beautiful. I had to smile because I do the same. I’m a little disappointed when they request something I’ve done before (or don’t like).
