Kim & Brian's Wedding Cake

Kim & Brian's Wedding Cake

The “simple” cake my daughter wanted for her wedding at the Homestead Resort in VA. I really thought the design we came up was going to be way too much; but when the final flower was placed and it was moved to the cake table…well, it was perfect. Anything less would have been too simple and too small.

Doing this cake for her was a joy. This was my first wedding cake, my first draped cake and my first cake transported a long distance(8 hours!). I cannot even begin to guess how many hours it took to complete but the look on her face when she saw it made it all worthwhile!

The cake was White Velvet with raspberry filling, iced with white chocolate ganache and covered with Ivory draping which I dusted with pearl dust. I made pale champagne garden roses, Christmas roses and hygrangea blossoms as the flowers; all “blinged out” with rainbow disco dust so they sparkled under the down-lighting. Each tier was 8" tall – by the time we added the cake topper and the base we topped out at 40". With the linens my daughter chose the table didn’t even need any more decorations!

I am still recovering from doing this…:)

amazing

A party without cake is just a meeting ;)

This cake is so beautiful, I can’t stop looking at it. I can’t believe this is the first wedding cake and the first draped cake. It looks perfect. I’m in AW.

Oh my goodness, what a magnificent cake! The draping is so amazing, and the flowers are gorgeous! Everything about it is so elegant and perfect!

Beautiful. How long in advance did you do the draping? I,m always scared of ‘cracking’. :))
