This was my first cake for Icing Smiles, a charity that provides cakes for very sick children and their families. It was for Gabby, a 12 year old girl with a brain tumor. She loves Hello Kitty and Mickey Mouse and asked for something funny and colorful.
I used a fabulous tutorial for the giant cupcake, which was only $4 and you can find here.
I have free tutorials for both Hello Kitty and the ice cream ‘accident’ on my Facebook Page, in my Notes.
The cake is based on the style of Andrea's Sweetcakes – thank you, Andrea, and my friend Kate from Kendon's Candies gave me a bag full of lollipops to use on the cake. Thank you, Kate! Thanks finally to Gabriela from Moybella Cakes for creating a popcorn tutorial just for me. :-)

Lesley, Lesley, Lesley. This cake is amazing. Any child would be thrilled with this cake, but how special that you did it for an Icing Smiles child. This will come back to you tenfold, though I know that’s not why you did it. xx

That is SUCH an awesome cake and that giant hello kitty bow to tie everything together is so smart. Your placing of decorations on anything you make is always so intelligently done, a lot of decorations these days end up in the same positions on many cakes. Such fantastic work, yet again but even more so because of it’s story :)
