I’m truly honoured to present my cake art piece for the Incredible India- Cake Collaboration presented by the prestigious Global Sugar Artists Network, helmed by the amazing Tina Scott Parashar!

India is known for its beautiful temples. The temples of India showcase splendor, stunning architecture and engineering, heavily favouring the fine arts, and yet they are also places of intense spirituality.

Mythologies are played out in stone, wood and paint. This (original) piece represents the architecture and motifs found in temples across India.

The Lotus symbolizes spirituality, but this lotus is heavily gilded and decorated, taking forward the theme of spirituality and opulence, that mysteriously go hand in hand in Indian temples.

Another element shown here are the “Asamyukta Hastas”, or the Single Hand Gestures or Mudras. These mudras are a striking feature of many traditional Indian classical dance forms that originated in temples long ago. Each mudra is used to convey ideas, actions, events or creatures during the dance, and are important pieces of the storytelling vocabulary.

The bottom tier symbolizes the Chilanka or the Ghungroo, the anklet worn during the traditional classical dance performances.

Thank you Tina Scott Parashar, for this lovely collaboration!! I’m truly honoured to be participating along with some awesome Indian and international artists !!
