I was thrilled to be asked to both take part and help organise the “Cakensteins Monsters” collaboration, which is on display this weekend at the Lighthouse Cinema in Dublin. The collaboration is based on the cinema’s Halloween weekend showings of Universal Monster and David Lynch horror movies, which was a fantastic theme to base our collab on! I chose the 1931 “Frankenstein’s Monster” movie for my piece, and decided to make my first ever 3d sculpted bust cake. “Frank” is made entirely out of cake with an internal structure, and after covering him with icing, I embossed a rugged effect onto his skin and airbrushed the colour and shading onto him, before adding additional hand-modelled and handpainted details. I then covered the base with edible prints on wafer paper, featuring a collage of posters and movie stills from the original 1931 film.

He is class. In all his green glory. The texturing on his rugged face is brilliant.
