A customised 3D catamaran. I started out thinking the boat was a single hull speed boat, until I asked the client for the manufacturer and model etc. She said its a ?? catamaran.. I thought that can’t be right… but yes it was… which slightly altered my planning and creation of the cake. Over to hubby the engineer with the design skills – customised templates and voila – a 3D chocolate mud Streamline Catamaran – scaled to perfection on an “ocean” of chocolate mud cake, covered with marbled fondant sea. Then an hour and a half trip to the venue. It all arrived safe and sound. The inedible parts of the design are the handrails and supports for the top deck. The top deck is also made on a foam core base covered with sugar paste – nice and study for the car trip….. everything else is sugar sugar sugar!!!
