It was a wonderful experience and honor to part of the Avant-Garde Cake Collaboration with so many talented artists!

Inspiration for this cake came from the gorgeous Lava gown created by the French fashion designer Stephane Rolland. I was attracted to the organic flow and movement of the sculptural red embellishment as well as the striking color palette of the haute couture gown.

The red ribbon-like sculptural embellishments were created out of red gumpaste and the white netted overlays were made from fragments of edible gelatin plastic.
