Christmas Candle

Christmas Candle Christmas Candle

I rarely get any Christmas-themed orders, so I love to make Christmas cakes for my family celebrations. I decided I wanted to make a peppermint cake with a white chocolate peppermint cheesecake in the middle of it, so I knew it would be a very tall cake. The height of it was perfect for a candle cake, which is a design I’d been wanting to create for a long time.

I molded all the side pieces from Marvelous Molds Small Quadrille, & placed them just enough apart to line the seams with rice-shaped silver dragees. The pictures don’t show it well, but in person the dragees were lovely and very metallic with a lot of sparkle. I created a wafer paper poinsettia with wired leaves. 3 real votive candles were embedded in the top. These were great—-they burned for a long time during our celebration & didn’t cause any heat issues with the cake. It was like having a real candle burning!

And yes, the peppermint cake—-with white chocolate peppermint cheesecake in the middle, & white chocolate peppermint filling & icing—-was SOOOO good! I rarely get to eat any of my cakes but I tore up a big ol’ piece of this one! YUM!
