44 talented cake artists from across the globe have come together to celebrate the beautiful and sophisticated designs of Indian fashion. Each artist created a cake inspired by a haute couture Indian outfit that is typically worn for elegant occasions. One can see how these outfits can easily translate into a gorgeous cake design with their rich colors and intricate decorations.
My inspiration provided had intricate detailing with embellishments, appliqués, studs and embroidery, in gold and silver with pops of red jewels and piping. All of which I applied to my design. The saree was an apricot and deep regal purple; a colour combination I hadn’t seen or worked with before, so I welcomed the challenge and experimented with mixing Satin Ice fondant and gel colours. I also incorporated the jewellery worn by the model for my top tier and added red roses to tie in the red pops of colours here and there. Really enjoyed participating and the challenge…I hope you do too! xx
