Playing around with leftover gum paste. This is a Cactus Dahlia. Pretty happy with the result.

I’ll tell you the same thing I told Gail, I have watched you both from your earliest beginnings of making flowers and how far both of you have come in such a short amount of time, is literally mind boggling!

Still have some bad moments. Really hate it when it does not come out looking like what I had envisioned. This one is pretty much what I was trying for. Needless to say I am very happy with it. All I know is my collection is growing.

I used Wilton Gerbera Daisy cutters and folded all the petals back so that they almost look curled.. I actually did it in 2 parts and then combined them. The middle I used a mixture of gumpaste & fondant & made a ball which I actually stuck on a toothpick (this way I can just stick on cake). I let that dry a little. Then I did 3 rows of the smaller Daisy cutters. The first row I glued some of the petals to the ball. The next 2 rows I placed pieces of papers towels here & there so that the petals would look more natural after they dried. I put that aside then I did the larger ones. I think I did 3 of those. I placed them to dry again placing pieces of paper towel so that they dried that way. Then combined the two. There is a tutorial on lovelytutorials. I also googled the image of the actual flower and kind of went back & forth between the tutorial & the image.
