Aye, ye scurvy dogs! Aaaarrrgghhh!!! A buccaneer cake for The Dread Pirate Ben (our little cousin!) who just celebrated his second revolution around the sun this weekend. Little Ben is a miracle, having been born far prematurely weighing less than 2 lbs, but he’s doing awesome & is just precious! So he deserved a killer cake for his party! And could ANY cake be MORE right up my alley than this one??? If you know me at all, you know the answer to that question! I’ve been looking forward to making this one for MONTHS!

The cake is all edible, including the ship, right down to the wafer paper sails. The pirate ship is rice krispy treats with modeling chocolate decor, & sails I printed on my edible printer. I HAD to throw the “Surrender the Booty” flag in there, since my husband & I are ‘pirates’ & that’s the flag we fly on our ‘ship’! LOL!

The top tier is Hawaiian Cream Cake with white chocolate ganache. It is covered in fondant & hand-painted with a treasure map. The bottom tier is Almond Amaretto cake with almond buttercream filling & dark chocolate ganache. Fondant stripes. The big skull is rice krispy treats & modeling chocolate, & the small skulls with crossed swords are modeling chocolate.

Cakes ROCK!!! Christy Seguin, Austin, TX
