Diet Coke Can Cake

Diet Coke Can Cake
Diet Coke Can Cake

Yay!…computer now fixed. I have been so excited to show the last cake I made. I LOVED making it, even though the thought of covering it filled me with dread.

This cake was requested by a very good friend of mine, for her sister. The cake was to be based around things she likes, with her love of diet coke being central.

The ‘can’ stands at nearly 10" high and is surrounded by a fully edible chocolate iPhone with the ‘Word Warp’ game app and a set of keys with Chelsea football club and a red bus (she used to be a bus driver) keyrings.

Everything was hand modelled, cut and painted, I made an impression mold of my actual keys using left over fondant with loads of tylo added to set it firm. I also tried to keep everything to scale….a lot harder as I didn’t have my computer!

My airbrush got another outing this time with silver paint from the amazing Dinkydoodle Designs by Dawn Butler……..amazing stuff….would recommend!

I hear the cake was very well received I have attached a photo that my friend sent me of the cake at the party stood next to a real can of coke just so you can get an idea of size.

Hope you enjoy!

Amazing work Angela!!! The word ‘diet’ is especially impressive to me – all hand cut? Wow!! :-D x

Julia Hardy

Thank you :)

Julia – all hand cut! I tried 2 different ways ( one on the front and one on the back!) I printed the word on to paper and then laminated it and cut it out using scissors and a craft knife then first time I placed on to the fondant and roll over it with a rolling pin which left an indentation which I then cut round with a craft knife and the second time I just cut round the template. Both worked just as well but I did struggle to peel the fondant off the back of the template the second time round without losing its shape!
