This cake was inspired by the beautiful sequinned Jenny Packham gown of the bride combined with the couples wish to depict a tree on their wedding cake. The embellishments are created by attaching gelatine sequins (I used Kara Couture Cakes fantastic tutorial), sugar beads and piped royal icing dots to wafer paper discs. I decided to use the wafer paper so the discs could be easily removed before serving (nobody likes eating gelatine sequins and hard sugar pearls, right?). The bottom tier was a beast to cover 6″×9″ in a hot humid kitchen back in July (yes it took me that long to put up this beauty!).
