Two firsts

A day of learning silver leaf and rose ruffles at the Blue Door Bakery. I love learning new things though the silver leaf was much more unruly than I had expected! I loved making the ruffles – so therapeutic and such a lovely effect when finished. Expensive class though as it resulted in yet another crucial purchase! I have now bought the pasta rolling attachment for my Kenwood – brilliant for rolling all the thin sheets of flower (gum) paste.

A really ovely cake. I know exactly what you mean about the ruffles being therapeutic. I haven’t tried silver leaf yet – have heard it’s quite ‘fluttery’!! :-)
