Not having done many wedding cakes before this one, we were always up for a new challenge. Imagine our delight when the bride to be informed us that she wanted a cake that had a definite WOW factor and made a real statement.
Being given carte blanche really got our creative juices flowing in coming up with a creation full of the glitz and glamour associated with Asian weddings. The stark whites, contrasting with the vivid, bold colours of the floral pieces and the dazzle of the glitter, gave it a glitzy look totally in keeping with the ostentatious theme of the reception.

Working in a variety of media, including fondant, royal icing and chocolate ganache, we set ourselves a real task, both in coverage as we went for a straight edge finish and in detailing, from royal icing stencilling to a cascade of fondant hearts, staring on the top tier, in both ivory and chocolate fondant.

We certainly achieved what the effect we were after as the bride and groom, faced with a cake standing just under 4 feet tall, were left with a priceless look on their faces, completely speechless!
