I had the most fun ever in my life making this cake!
I made it at Mike McCarey’s class back in December. Mike is one of the most genuine, encouraging, fun people I have ever had the pleasure to learn from and work with. If you ever have the opportunity to take one of his classes, please do so. Everyone at Mike’s Amazing Cakes was amazing :) and I hope someday I get to go back and see them again.

The design I chose was inspired by a Threadless design (yo Threadcakes!). The guitar body is cake, while the tree and branches are armature covered in modeling chocolate. In fact, I used modeling chocolate on the entire cake, no fondant. The “strings” are painted pasta. I made the frets on the neck by embossing a line and back-filling with buttercream.
The birds are made from polymer clay and hand-painted. It stood just under 36" tall.
Oh, and I had it shipped from Seattle, WA to Nashville, TN and it arrived completely intact. Yay!
Thanks for looking!

Peace, love & cake!
