This was a cake I did this past weekend for a lovely family. I made Abby’s brother’s 1st & 2nd birthday cakes so was happy to be able to make her 1st & 2nd birthday cakes as well. I didn’t use a photo of any particular cake for reference but I took inspiration for this design from the many Minnie cakes I’ve seen (in particular a red Minnie dress cake by Raewyn of CakesbyRaewyn). I did the ruffles on the bottom tier differently than most of the cakes I’d seen and thought it gave it a nice look similar to that of a petticoat. And Abby’s mom wanted a 2D Minnie on the bottom tier so this is the result.

I wasn’t going to post this as it is somewhat generic in design (nothing super special) but I did like the effect of mixing dimensions with having the 3D bow on the 2D face so thought I’d post it anyway!

My daughter (20 months) LOVES Minnie and when she saw this cake, she cooed so that’s another reason I decided to post it.
