This was a cake I entered in a wedding cake competition that was held during our annual Seafood Festival.
The top tier was buttercream, the bottom tier was fondant so I could hand paint on it. I used gelatin to make the bubbles on the side and also the aqua glass ball, which had a hand piped rope on it. We have humpback whales, sea lions and otters out our front door, so I included them all around the cake. I also used gelatin to make the kelp around the sea otter and mixed different sugars to make the sand look like our Alaskan beach sand. Everything was edible and I placed 2nd place in the competition.
