Diamond Ore Cube Minecraft Cake

My son wanted a Minecraft Cake for his birthday and requested for a Diamond Ore Cube with a Diamond Ore Pick Axe. If I had only known what I was getting myself into – This was by far, the most time consuming cake to build! I had 3 cookie sheets full of tiles that I hand cut to cover this cake with and it wasn’t enough – The cube is an 8×8×8 inch chocolate and vanilla layered cake. He also had to tell me that each panel matched one another and of course, to top it off, I also had to make the corner tiles match so that it looked just like the real thing – LOL! TFL!

This is fantastic. My boys are requesting Minecraft for their birthday party in February. Oh boy those squares must have taken ages and it’s all so straight and perfect.

I made a diamond ore cube for my son last year, it wasnt as big as this and it took me ages to stick on the squares!
He was very particular about it too, it had to have steve on it and a creeper, lol! :)

I love this! I just completed a 6×6 cube and used 1200 modelling chocolate squares. My hand is still cramped from all the cutting. I can totally appreciate the labour of love that goes into one of these. I love the colour scheme for this – it’s beautiful!
