Q&A: Storing letter/number cakes

Good morning,
I need to make 6 of these cakes in one day, and I think if I prepare them two days in advance the crust would get all dried out. They will be made and cut out of cake not cookies.
Any ideas how I can avoid this? I know that I can cover the cake in celephone, but I am afraid it might ruin the pipings on the side.
Thank you

Place each cake in a cardboard box big enough so that it doesn’t touch the top or sides of the cake. Place a pad under the cake so that it doesn’t move in the box. Then cover the box completely with a nylon or plastic type wrap. That way nothing touches the cake.
