Got to make Snake cake... eeeeekkkk!!

So I am about to start the adventure of making a snake cake! Me, who is petrified of snakes… and just last summer was trapped in my cottage because a snake was getting to close to the door. Hopefully this may help me get over my phobia, having to study details and look into those beady eyes. EWWW!
Of course the pic the client sent was the famous North star yellow snake cake. I asked if it had to be the yellow or perhaps another kind ( I really didn’t want to copy too much), so they are great with a regular boa! Good!
So after studying pictures of real snakes, I am off to bed to have a sleepless night of nightmares!!

I see there is no tutorial on here … so who wants one?? I just may take step by step pics for you all :)

Oh I ove snakes, they are the best pet! My son has been a reptile enthusiast for 25 years and we have always had pet snakes and lizards in the family! You’ll do a fabulous job on the cake! CANT WAIT TO SEE IT

I had to make a snake cake once. Yuck. I haven’t posted it here. My FYI for you is that my local supermarket sells onions in plastic mesh bags; the bag was just perfect for replicating snake skin and it was free. (I wasn’t planning to do a lot of snake cakes so I didn’t want to spend a lot on a mold or texture sheet). You might find a mesh bag on other goods too. Hope that helps.

ok…so little miss has a snake phobia has found herself staring at pics of snakes, not minding it actually, because I am studying details. took some step by step pics.. will post tomorrow. So I finish airbrushing the cake, step back to look at it.. turned out pretty good, i can always find fault as I am sure you all do to. Then I picked it up to take out to show family, then I got the willies… yuck… looking down at it in my hands was gross, started to get butterflies in my belly!!
