Thank you very much Storyteller cakes :) This was a challenging design…which is why I think it was so much fun to do.:) I sat for quite a long time on those stripes. I had a couple of ideas in mind but wasn’t sure if I could achieve straight pin stripes as it would be noticeable if I had messed up :) …and then finally it came to me…I thought I could try using a ribbed rolling pin over white fondant and then with an extruder using black fondant in the same gage as the grooves in the impression left by the pin; and to then space them out according to Valli’s design. After I applied the ribbed white fondant to the barrel tier I then applied a little water into the groove of where the black was going to go and then just started applying the extruded pieces. It took a very long time but I think the effect was worth the effort. xx
