re: Geode Cake

Not sure I understand Sandra. Was the cake iced in buttercream and then covered with fondant? I just wondered if heat softened the buttercream enough to cause the fondant to bulge. The design is beautiful and I am sure every guest was in awe of the geode. Did you make your own rock sugar or buy it? You did a great job in sculpting each tier and having the geode design come out in such a perfect shape.
