Last minute 60th birthday cake for a surprise party, ordered yesterday for today. All she asked for was chocolate cake with colours of yellow and blue. I made chocolate fudge with caramel filling. Used a piece of my Mom’s crochet lace to make the border. Just pushed into fondant & cut out with a exacto knife. Just finished adding the pearls this AM. Pretty happy how it turned out with so little time. I don’t work well under pressure…. Don’t think I would have done it, except it was for my sons girlfriends Mom. I hope she likes it. :o)

Great job, especially under pressure! It turned out FAB and I’m sure she will love it. Awesome idea to use the crochet lace to imprint – will have to try that trick one day =D

Thanks Violet. I would have preferred trying my copy cat sugar veil recipe for actual lace look on the side….but…. #1.Waiting for my lace mat to be delivered. SOoooo
#2. This crochet lace was the closest I could get to achieving what I wanted. Won’t find out till tomorrow if birthday girl liked it. :o)

Awesome idea with the crochet lace :-) will I have to try it sometimes, Awesome cake and love the bright colour, I am sure she is going to love it.
