“Bang! Bang! Crash!!! Why are the Madagascar animals, Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo and Melman the Giraffe looking so joyously happy despite being stuck inside a wooden crate, washed ashore the beach? Because those brilliant penguins Private and Kowalski are breaking them out with their mallets. And where, may you ask, are the other two penguins Skipper and Rico? Why, they have gone out to explore the place before giving the go ahead for the others to come out!”

Made this Madagascar themed cake resembling a wooden crate for 4 year old Eva (lucky birthday girl of the “Tangled Rapunzel” cake too) based on a popular design that her Mom showed me. The original design had the four Madagascar animals with their heads amidst leaves and vines on top of the crate and the penguins standing in a row on the beach. I wanted my version to tell a story so I changed the design at the very last minute and ended up spending 24 hours straight decorating this cake without any sleep!
