This was a total labour of love for the eldest of my two nephews. The head and flippers of the turtle were created with marzipan. The board was also covered with marzipan and, although you cannot see much of it, was decorated to look like the Aurora Borealis. The shell of the turtle is fondant. The world was created on a board using a map of discworld so that the continents were represented as accurately as possible. It was then flooded with blue piping gel. Piping gel was then built up gradually, starting with blue and ending with white, on the edges of the world to represent the continuous overflow. Unfortunately, the elephants are actually plastic toys, although I did have to build up their ears with marzipan and add the tusks using white cocktail sticks. My modelling skills have improved considerably since doing this cake and I would now be able to model the elephants out of gumpaste
