This is the first cake I’m posting to any forum ever. Always been intimidated by the awesome cakes that others post. Finally I have a cake that I think it might be OK to post here. So here goes nothing…
I’d seen a pic of a rose which had the deepest red petals but were white on the outside. Wanted to make them for ever and finally decided to make it for my sis-in-law’s birthday cake. The advantage of baking for the family – you can try new stuff.
Kept the whole canvas of the cake simple so that the bicolor rose and buds would stand out. Hope I’ve succeeded.

You did an amazing job….. just beautiful… pat yourself on the back….. :o)
Thank you Goreti. You’re the first person to have commented on my first pic. And such kind words too. THANK YOU!
Thanks so much jchuck. Lovely to see the roses appreciated.
Very pretty rose and cake!! just lovely! :-)
Thank you Elli. You all just make my day sweeter.
Amazing roses! I would love to know how you did them – did you layer white & red gumpaste and then cut out the petals? how cool is that!:!
Thanks so much Chris. That’s exactly how I did it. Rolled the white flowerpaste out a wee bit thick as I didn’t want the red to show through and make it look pink. Then placed a thinly rolled layer of red on it. Rolled then together a bit too- to ensure they fuse and then cut out the petals.
Beautiful!!! Welcome to CakesDecor!!! xxx
