This was such a fun cake to make…. it was my first attempt to at creating a ‘car cake’ …my little nephew Tye absolutely loves the movie and I thought I would be making one of the more well know characters such as Mater or Lightning McQueen but no Tye’s favorite is SNOT ROD who only makes a very brief appearance in the movie but it must be a memorable one as this was the cake he firmly requested !!!
SNOT ROD (what a name !!) appears in a scene where he sneezes and flames shoot out from his side exhausts so I put sparkler candles behind the sugar paste flames to hopefully get that effect when the candles were lit.
Little Tye’s reaction was wonderful when I dropped the cake off to him, he was adorable checking out all the details…. I didn’t get to go to the party as I had to work but I received wonderful feedback and although the candles were hard to light at first it actually all worked and created the flame effect well enough to impress the little ones !!!
