This was my first attempt at a Easter Basket cake. I used fondant for the grass by running it through my speghetti pasta maker. It worked great. The larger eggs are rice krispie treats molded using a plastic egg sprayed lightly with pam. The rice krispie treat came right out. I then dipped them in almond bark. The finish was not as smooth as I would have liked and if I ever use this method again I would suggest really compacting the rice treats well. The bow is gum paste and was originally on a gum paste handle, however I did not use wire in it and it would not hold up so instead I had to use wire wrapped with ribbon. The other decorations were just boughten Easter candies placed in the basket. The whole cake was iced using buttercream in a basketweave technique.
The cake itself was a yellow vanilla cake with a lemon filling and then I tinted the batter in three different colors and alernately placed them in the pan this was a nice surprise when the cake was cut.
