Ever heard of a ‘Yurt’ cake? Well, I’ve made one ;-). I was so inspired by Sweet-Pea Cakes’ beautiful petal cake that I decided to try the ‘petal technique’. I thought I’d try it with chocolate buttercream, which is what I did. I then tried a version of the ruffle technique on the top of the cake. I like to play as you can probably tell. Anyhow when I finished, my husband said, “Who ordered the Nomadic housing cake? You know a Yurt?” I fell on the floor laughing! So instead of modeling a yak out of gumpaste, I just put a sunflower cupcake on top! I had so much fun with the petal technique that I am hooked!
