Damask peony cake

This cake is a 2-tiered chocolate and vanilla cake with swiss meringue buttercream. It was made for a grand opening party at a local salon and spa. Bottom tier was pained with silver dust and dark purple royal icing applied via a stencil. Second tier was covered in purple and dusted with petal dust for a more “velvet” appearance. The signage on the second tier was modeled after the business logo. Cake was topped with an off-centered purple peony. Cake accompanied 60 cupcakes on a stand my wonderful husband made me last night. :)

My flowers have a looong way to go but I got the cutter set for this peony from Colette’s cakes and it came with instructions. There are also some video tutorials on making this flower on youtube.
