Penguins in the Park Christmas Raffle Cake

Last year I did a series of Christmas cakes with a theme running through them of penguins frolicking about in the snow in a children’s park. I was inspired one day when I was cleaning the window ledge at home and my eyes fell upon a little sculpture my son had made for me many years ago of two characters on a see saw. The idea popped into my head at that moment and I just loved making the little scene with the penguins playing and in their ‘huddle’ and building a snowman. Really enjoyed this.

This cake was to help raise money for a children’s cancer ward in Southampton, UK. they had to ‘guess the weight’.

Traditional fruit cake with sugarpaste toppings. I did not use any sticks or toothpicks with this but the hollow sprig is made with wires through them.
