This weeks cake has been right up my street!. My lovely friend Michelle ,s son Sam asked for a Mexican Day of the Dead cake for his 11th Birthday, and i couldn’t wait to make it for him! Sam loves all things Mexican, especially the food!.
The Day of the Dead is a day whereby family and friends gather to pray for and remember friends and family who have died. Its a day of celebration. Hence all the bright colours and patterned skulls!
As it was only a small, close family gathering, they didn’t need a lot of cake. So the top hat was polystyrene and then covered in fondant i then hand painted the skull and rose design.
The skull is chocolate sponge cake with creamy chocolate ganache. Again covered in fondant and hand painted.
Such a cool cake to make! :D
