This is my contribution to the magical Collaboration on Bangladesh … the work is inspired by the tradition of using Bethel leaves during rituals and important events as a good omen.
Title of work: “Paan… The Magic Of The Leaves”
The paan (literally “leaf” in Sanskrit) is nothing more than a betel leaf. I was fascinated by this custom of chewing betel leaves and the significance these leaves have in weddings and other events in Bangladesh. The meaning given to the rite in which these leaves are the bearers of so many benefits and love for the spouses is very beautiful.
