This is my piece gor a challenge dedicated to the Gold Museum in Bogota (museo del oro), featuring gold works from the pre-Columbian period, before the European invasion. The use of gold symbolized strength and status in South American societies. Leaders used to wear gold animal statues in their clothes or helmets, and were buried surrounded by all their gold statues and belongings.
The figurine I designed, inspired by a double bat-head figurine found in the Gold Museum, has eyes made of coffee beans that symbolize the bat’s excellent vision day and night.
The challenge is attended by artists, cake designers from around the world, sponsored by the BAKERSWOOD group. The works on display are amazing!
Many thanks to Maria Mercedes Gonzalez Lagarma ❤
Which allowed me to participate in the challenge, I really enjoyed.
