“Hummingbird” Project

My project was inspired by one of the representative birds of Ecuador, the Hummingbird.

I wanted to highlight the beauty of its colors, uniting it with the beauty of the Inca woman, adorned with orchids, one of the representative flowers of Ecuador. The Andean culture represented with the Chacanas (ancient aboriginal symbol of the indigenous peoples of the central Andes of the territories where both the Inca culture and some Pre-Inca cultures developed) on its 4 sides, illuminated and painted according to the 4 elements, water, air, fire and earth. All about the representation of the Chochasquí pyramid located in the Middle of the World and Hieroglyphs of the ancestral cultures of Ecuador at the base, also illuminated.

The sculpture of the Inca woman was modeled in fondat, with the soul of rkt and ganache, for more firmness. Rice paper was used for their clothing to achieve the texture and smoothness of the wings on the body and head. The feathers were airbrushed one by one. The hummingbird head plume is made of fondant and covered with rice paper.

The flowers that adorn the sculpture are made of rice paper. Painted with an airbrush.

The pyramid was carved from sponge cake and covered with ganache and fondant. Held on 2 wooden bases supported by a stainless steel rod, nuts and washers. Painted with an aging technique, gold powder and gold foil. The base of the pyramid is illuminated, the light covered on the inside of the cake.

The Chacanas made with a flex foam core and completely covered in fondant, hand painted one by one, in their center illuminated and the light completely covered with isomalt, giving it the appearance of glass.

The base covered entirely in fondant, hand painted, illuminated with light inside, the same one that is completely covered on the inside of the cake.

Mi proyecto fue inspirado en una de las aves representativas del Ecuador, el Colibrí.

Quise destacar lo hermoso de sus colores, uniéndole con la belleza de la mujer Inca, adornada de orquídeas, una de las flores representativas del Ecuador. La cultura Andina representada con las CHACANAS (símbolo milenario aborigen de los pueblos indígenas de los Andes centrales de los territorios donde se desarrollaron tanto la cultura Inca como algunas culturas Pre Incas) en sus 4 lados.

Iluminadas y pintadas según los 4 elementos agua 💧 , aire ☁️, fuego 🔥 y tierra 🌏 .

Todo esto sobre la representación de la pirámide de Chochasquí ubicada en la Mitad del Mundo y Jeroglíficos de las culturas ancestrales del ecuador en la base también iluminada.

La escultura de la mujer Inca fue modelada en fondat, con alma de rkt y ganache, para más firmeza. Para su vestimenta fue utilizado papel arroz para conseguir la textura y suavidad de alas en cuerpo y cabeza. Las plumas fueron pintadas una por una con aerógrafo. El penacho de la cabeza en forma de colibrí esta hecho de fondant y cubierto con papel arroz.

Las flores que adornan a la escultura están hechas de papel arroz. Pintadas con aerógrafo.

La pirámide fue tallada en bizcocho y cubierta con ganache y fondant. Sostenida en 2 bases. Pintada con técnica de envejecido, polvo dorado y láminas de oro. La base de la pirámide se encuentra iluminada, la luz cubierta en la parte interna del pastel.

Las Chacanas iluminadas y la luz cubierta totalmente con isomalt, dándole la apariencia de vidrio.

La base cubierta en su totalidad de fondant, pintada a mano, iluminada con luz en su interior, la misma que se encuentra totalmente cubierta en la parte interna del pastel.
