Winter (non)Wedding Cake

A man ordered this cake from me for his wife of many years. He told me they didn’t have a “real” wedding cake when they got married, and so for a Christmas present he wanted a winter-themed “wedding” cake. The top tier was butter pecan cake, bottom tier was dark chocolate fudge, both filled and frosted with vanilla buttercream, then decorated with sanding sugar and royal icing snowflakes. The bow was made of fondant. The snow globe was an inverted cupcake covered with gumpaste (to make it sturdy), and then the figures inside were fondant. The only thing that wasn’t edible was the clear globe; it’s plastic… one of those little round Coca-Cola bottles upside down with the neck cut off (a la Bakerella)

Thanks for looking… and Merry Christmas!
