The mother (my best friend) of my God daughter asked me to make my God daughter’s 21st birthday cake. Lucy is at University in London and has just spent four months in Australia so her parents wanted something to show her experiences of both places. They came with a very loose idea of what they wanted and then left the rest to me. The cake was only for a small family gathering but I kind of got carried away as with the heart shaped caked consisting of an 8" square cake and an 8" round cake and being almost 6" in height, it really did turn out to be a huge cake! Lucy (and her parents) just loved the finished caked though so it really was worth it. This was a chocolate fudge cake layered and covered with smooth chocolate ganache and covered in fondant. All the features were hand made except the flags which were printed on edible icing sheets. The surf board was sprayed with an airbrush and then hand painted. The bottom of the cake was also airbrushed. One photo really does not capture all the elements of the cake!
