Ariel Half Sheet

I made this cake for a Facebook friend’s sister. Her little girl was turning 2 and she loves Ariel. She needed a big cake so we went with a double layer half sheet vanilla cake with fresh strawberry filling. I love working with fondant but I have not learned how to frost with fondant so I mainly frost with BC & decorate with fondant. To make Ariel I found a coloring page I liked online. I saved it, Zoomed it and traced it onto separate 8×10 blank copy papers. Later I used the paper stencils to cut out my rolled fondant pieces. My favorite was marbling the green fondant for her lower body. It was very time consuming by my friend’s sister LUVED the cake so that made it all worth the time and effort. Next time I think I will paint the eye details with edible marker for a more natural look because she kinda looked cross eyed. lol :) I didn’t take a picture of the sides but I bordered the cake with piped BC white “air” bubbles, green sea weed and rolled purple fondant corals. It looked really pretty.
