Cake Design Motivation

I call this cake “The Elegant Waves of Creativity”. The first thing that came to mind when I read pattern play was the wavy design for the second tier from the bottom. Having always been a favorite of mine and not being a commonly used design, I decided to use this as the focal point for the pattern play element of this cake. Considering ombre is very popular, I decided to use various shades of a very soft pink ensuring that the coloring brings through a subtle metallic charm on some of the tiers. The riffles on the bottom tier bring a lovely softness and elegance which are complimented by the carnations. The third tier continues the wavy pattern theme while the metallic beading is softened and complimented by the pearl beads, bringing the cake to life. The thin, heavily beaded tier adds an element of surprise to the cake and serves to tie the various riffling and beaded elements together, all the while enhancing the subtle coloring used throughout the cake with a pop of excitement. With the abundance of texture and pattern, the top tier brings a calmness to the cake that shimmers slightly, while the frosted Isomalt sugar adds a touch of luxury. A burst of green breaks the pink and white and adds a final element of freshness.
As the ocean the waves calm down as they roll closer to the shore, my cake transitions smoothly from bottom to the top.
