World Light Day is held every second Sunday in December. On this day people all around the world light a candle at 19.00 hrs in memory of all deceased children.
Sweet Art for World Light Day came out of the idea that as a cake decorator you often make birthday cakes for children but deceased children will never get to have a birthday cake again. We wanted to create something … to let people know that these children are not forgotten, to support people who have lost a child and to make it easier to discuss this subject. Almost everyone knows someone who has lost a child either during or after the pregnancy.
We have made a creation with over 100 cake decorators from all over the world, parents of deceased children and even two classes from the ROC in Amsterdam in honour of World Light Day.
