Whitby Abbey

Whitby Abbey
Whitby Abbey

I was asked to make a 30th Anniversary cake for a couple who love whitby, Whitby Abbey and all things gothic. Their daughter and I came up with the design of the cake together, the bottom tier is a dummy tier covered with black and purple fondant and black cake lace, it is raised slightly to give the effect of it standing on the ornate mounded “legs”. The top tier is airbrushed and has a handpainted view of Whitby based on a painting by Ian Scott Massie, and is topped with a gumpaste and royal icing model of Whitby Abbey.
Finished at 5am this morning so didn’t get chance to get a proper photo before the customer came to collect it, but she did send me this one of the cake and of her parents and the cake, she also brought me a lovely bunch of flowers to say thank you and told me both her and her Mam cried because they were so happy with the cake, really makes the very late long nights/early mornings worth it
