Christening Cross w Baby Cake

Cake by fauxgal posted 301 days ago 466 views 3 times favorited 2 comments Add to Favorites

This is a reproduction of a cake my client found on the Internet, but we don’t know who the original cake was made by. Mine is buttercream iced, and piped, with a hand made fondant baby girl on the cross. The cross is approx. 15” long. Made by: It Takes The Cake, Lawrenceville, GA

I looked for all the pans that would work and chose the metal pan. It was bigger and I like the angles. I can’t remember if I had to tweak the slant off the top or not though.
Ice as usual. Pipe as usual. Just take your time and let the buttercream crisp up before piping on the details.
The baby is made using a mold that comes in pieces so you can pose him. I molded the pieces and glued them together with melted fondant and toothpicks. The dress is just a piece of fondant and the lace is made with a very tiny lace mold/cutter. I’m not sure what else I can tell you. Perhaps if you have a question, I could help.

Have your say...
