Pokemon cake

Pokemon cake. Homemade modelling chocolate over ganache and carved red velvet cake.
Homemade modelling chocolate figures. Lucario, Charizard and Pikachu. A minimal amount of flower wire was used to provide the framework for the standing figures. I made a very firm batch of modelling chocolate, so the figures are very strong and largely self-supporting.
The sphere was created by cooking a red velvet cake in two metal mixing bowls. I layered each hemisphere and filled the layers with ganache to help with the structure. There is a single short dowel to help anchor the bottom hemisphere there are then 4 straws about an inch from the centre dowel to support a small board between the bottom and to hemispheres. Once the halves were “glued” together with Ganache I then trimmed the cake to make sure it was round, then covered it with ganache and chilled it before covering it in homemade modelling chocolate.
