I was thrilled with how this cake turned out for Gabriel’s 6th birthday!
Inside it’s vanilla cake with chocolate butter icing, covered with sugar paste so it looks like stone, and decorated with sugar paste rocks and plants on the sides. The candles are also stuck in sugar paste rocks, and everything except the candles is edible.
It was challenging, trying to keep the perspective on a 2D sugar paste image, and I must say thanks to Bianca from Zoete Zondes for her tips in making this cake.
It is not my own design, I found lots of other cakes in this style on the internet, all of them really cool and each one with it’s own twist! That’s mine in the top left hand corner. :D

I’m keen to do more cakes in this style, perhaps with a different dinosaur like a Triceratops, or perhaps a dragon!
